Introduction to the materials used in the production of Li-ion cells.

F01004
AIM(S)

Learn about the materials used in Li-ion cells. The families of materials covered in this course are: cathode and anode active materials, binders, conductive additives, electrolyte, separator and current collectors. For each family of materials, the course will detail their compositions and challenges, as well as their evolution over time and future developments.

PROGRAMME

1- Operating principles and definitions: basic concepts for a good understanding of the course.

2- Typical units: to avoid confusion between kW and kWh.

3- Understanding the cathode: composition, evolution, challenges, future developments.

4- Understanding the anode: composition, evolution, challenges, future developments.

5- Understanding the electrolyte: compositions, trends, challenges, future developments.

6- Understanding the separator: compositions, trends, challenges, future developments.

7- Understanding current collectors: compositions, evolutions, issues, future developments.
